The latest NAR Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers showed a
growing trend among recent buyers. The latest figures show that 89 percent of
buyers purchased their home with the help of a real estate or broker. This is a
sharp increase from a decade ago in 2001, when only 69 percent of buyers
enlisted the help of an agent or broker.
The issue of occupancy limits and restrictions in rental
housing is a continually vexing one. Sometimes what one person thinks is too
many is, in the eyes of another, not enough. And sometimes what seems enough to
one may seem too much to another. Further compounding matters is the fact that
different jurisdictions may employ different standards. Moreover, the standards
may be applied differently in different situations.
By 2036, there will be more one-person households in Canada
than any other category, due to the aging of the baby boomer generation. But the
country is counting on immigration to be the main driver of household growth in
the next 20 years.
Markets across the nation are showing signs of movement and
improvement. The latest report from the Mortgage Bankers Association shows that
mortgage applications were up for the last week, this after a slow two week end
to 2011.
In Freddie Mac's results of its Primary Mortgage Market
Survey®, it showed mortgage rates easing to new all-time record lows for all
products covered in the survey helping to keep homebuyer affordability high. The
average for the 30-year fixed mortgage rate has been below 4.00 percent for six
consecutive weeks.
